Art Armada: Divisions, Fees, and Awards

BOAT DIVISIONS
Open Division—Build a boat before July 4. Start working on your boat whenever you wish—the sooner the better—using only the materials on the list and following all of the outlined rules.
Castaway Division—Build a boat on July 4, noon to 1:30 p.m. You will be given Castaway Debris and 1.5 hours to create your boat at Rotary Riverview Park. You are encouraged to register in advance, to be guaranteed a spot. There are only fifteen spots in Castaway Debris Division. If there are any spots left the day of the event that were not pre-registered for interested participants can leave their name at the registration tent (down at the park) between 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The Arts Center's event staff will draw names at 11:45 a.m. to determine who will be admitted into the Castaway Division. Castaway Division teams may consist of no more than two people.
Fees
•
$60 Corporate/Business team fee; $70 after 6/18/07
• $25 Nonprofit organization team fee; $30 after 6/18/07
• $20 Individual/Group fee; $25 after 6/18/07

• $20 Castaway Division fee; $25 after 6/18/07
Awards
BEST-OF-SHOW Award for the most spectacular and artistic boat and costumes that expresses an idea for—What’s Your Cause. The crew awarded Best-of-Show will win a $200 cash prize and will have their name forever engraved onto the Best-of-Show traveling trophy!
Awards will also be given for:
• The most wacky boat
• The most original or unusual use of materials to express your idea of What’s Your Cause
• The most interesting team story or boat-construction blow out boast. (You will be asked to provide fun facts about your team’s story or boat construction—this award will be judged by the information you provide in your fun facts
• The finest craftsmanship
• The most spirited and best-organized team.
• The boat that sinks most dramatically. The remains must be salvaged.
• The fastest times in the Open Division and Castaway Division.
• MINNOW’S REVENGE If time permits, last-place boats in each heat that remain able to race will compete for this award.
