SASD Standards

Art: Middle School

A1 Benchmark: Students will identify and explain the principles of emphasis, balance, and contrast using the elements of design: line, color, texture, value, shape, and form in two-dimensional and three-dimensional compositions/constructions.

L1 Benchmark: Students will demonstrate knowledge and skills that communicate clear and focused ideas based on planning, research, and problem solving demonstrated by multiple sketches.

Language Arts: Middle School

A.8.1 Benchmarks: Use visual features of a text to aid comprehension. Create visual structures to show understanding. Interact with the text by questioning, connecting, predicting, clarifying, inferring, drawing conclusions, and evaluating.

A.8.2 Benchmarks: Interpret events and ideas and connect different works to each other and to real-life experiences. Make inferences using story elements, text features, and visuals.

Social Studies: Middle School
A.8.2 Standard: Construct mental maps of selected locales, regions, states, and countries and draw maps from memory, representing relative location, direction, size, and shape.

A.8.3 Standard: Use an atlas to estimate distance and calculate scale.

Mathematics: Middle School

A.8.1h Benchmarks: Construct pictures, models and diagrams to display numerical data.
