We offer: 1200+ square feet of studio/ gallery space, creative opportunity to design interactive installations, ten months of regular paychecks, staff support, health insurance, and a materials budget.

You bring: Creative ideas for designing collaborative installations for a diverse drop-in public, innovative plans for designing entry points to exhibitions, building and creating skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.

In its second year, the Community Arts Fellowship at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center offers a graduate-level candidate or an exceptional undergraduate candidate the opportunity to gain professional experience in a nationally acclaimed arts environment. The Fellow will design and staff the ARTery—a large, sun-drenched room that is ideal for collaborative installations and creative experimentation. The ARTery is designed for visitors to collaboratively explore the exhibition themes and content of Arts Center programming through creative arts experiences. The Fellow will be responsible for developing collaborative projects that promote active participation by people of all skill levels and ages. The Fellow will be involved in other Community Arts Programming, including working with Connecting Communities artists-in-residence, as well as other Arts Center programming as it intersects with programming in The ARTery. The fellow will also be responsible for basic ARTery administrative duties such as monitoring supply levels, maintaining communication relating to programming, working with volunteers, and tracking participants.

The Fellowship is a full-time, ten-month commitment with a regular schedule that includes evening and weekend hours. The start date is August 1, 2009. The Fellowship will carry a stipend of $18,000 and health care benefits. Housing is not provided, however, the Arts Center will assist the Fellow in finding affordable housing.
