GRADES 9-12: NEVER PICTURE PERFECT
A lesson on media literacy and image manipulation
For PDF of grades 9-12 lessons: Click Here
National & SASD Standards covered in this lesson

Playing both with fantasy and reality, each of the artists whose work is featured in Stretching the Truth creates works that call into question what is genuine. Each artist constructs alternative versions of reality to either transport the viewer into another realm or to confront our beliefs and perceptions.

In this set of lessons, high school students will utilize media techniques, processes, and design while making application to their own life experiences–looking closer at the images that they see everyday on the Internet, television, magazines, and product labels. Are these truthful representations, or are they, too, a form of manipulation, altering our perception of what is real and obtainable?

9-12 Lesson I: Artist Spotlight: David Meanix

9-12 Lesson II: Artist Spotlight: Young-Min Kang
