Stephen received his MFA from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and his Diplome Technique from Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France. He has taught internationally at such institutions as Bild-Werk Akademy in Frauenau, Germany, Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, WA, and Sare-Poteries in France. He is well known for his installations and objects that allude to fairy tales and real and fabricated personal history. While in residence at Kohler Co., Stephen will use slip-cast vitreous clay to create components for a surreal landscape that will include a miniature house, a wooden lawn, and other images inspired by children’s books, toys, and memories.
