Nationally recognized artists bring fresh new insights to quilting in works filled with unexpected concepts and amplified color. Angela Moll (CA) hints at the private interiors of the home and self in quilts that illustrate intimate passages from her journals. Deconstructing the geometry of traditional quilt design, Marilyn Henrion’s work (NY) offers a captivating and intriguing disorder. Marcia Derse (OH) creates “floats,” miniature quilts that can stand alone or become part of larger works configured by the viewer. Loosely referencing city grids, Erin Wilson’s (NY) intuitively conceptualized pieces utilize a rich palette and velvety softness quite different from the urban hustle of her native Brooklyn.
