The John Michael Kohler Arts Center (Sheboygan, WI) and Edgewood College (Madison, WI) invite you to discover and celebrate the "Painted Forest," an art-environment created by Ernest Hüpeden in Valton, WI. Valton is 40 miles northwest of Baraboo in Sauk County.
Edgewood College art history professor Melanie Herzog will welcome visitors at 1:00 p.m., followed by a presentation in the Lodge by the Arts Center's Senior Curator of Exhibitions and Collections, Leslie Umberger. After the presentation, engage in an open dialogue with individuals involved in the preservation, conservation, and ongoing care of this American treasure: Terri Yoho, Executive Director of the Kohler Foundation, Nancy Schreiber, member of Kohler Foundation's Preservation Committee, and art historian Melanie Herzog of Edgewood College. Families and children are welcome to participate in an art-making activity in the Edgewood College Art Studio & Study Center at any time during the event. The festivities continue with homemade Amish pies and light refreshments until 3:00 p.m.
