Create your own cast iron tile, and experience a centuries-old casting process! UW-Milwaukee professor Chuck Krause, UW-Whitewater professor Dan McGuire, and their students will team up with Arts/Industry Technician Gregory Brulla to demonstrate casting techniques in iron and help the public create and cast tiles during the Arts Center’s Celebration of Summer. The team will use a cupola furnace to melt scrap iron to a liquid 2,750ºF. Then they will tap molten iron from the furnace and pour it into openface sand molds.

Please wear nonsynthetic clothing and close-toed shoes.

Fee per tile:
$7 ($5 member), payable upon arrival. Observing the pour: FREE.
