John Ehn owned a lodge in California from which he ran a successful motel and rental unit business. Inspired by the work of an artist he had hired for a small project, Ehn decided to populate his property with brightly painted, larger-than-life concrete characters from the “Wild West.” Ehn’s vivid sculptures constitute a collection that he named “Boot Hill Cemetery.” Honored as a historical site by the State of California, Ehn’s environment also included thousands of artifacts from his early days as a trapper.
