The Arts Center’s renowned Arts/Industry program introduces artists from around the world to the technologies and materials at Kohler Co.’s Pottery and Foundry. The results of this collaboration are embodied in works of art that evolve from both the industrial materials as well as the expertise and generosity of the factory associates. Works in this exhibition include Pigro by Mary Ellen Carroll (NY), a lavatory for OFPC—her project combining public art, architecture, and event—and Portrait of Caesar Jr. in Mexican Sand by Rob Neilson (WI), a cast iron portrait that is part of About Place, About Face, a public art project for the city of Los Angeles.

New Now: Recent Gifts from Arts/Industry has been funded by Kohler Co. Contributions from the John Michael Kohler Arts Center's loyal corporate, foundation, and individual donors have also been vital. The Arts Center expresses its deep gratitude to them as well as to the Mary Jo Bole, Mary Ellen Carroll, John Cleater, Billy Blaise Dufala, Barbara Frey, Aris Georgiades, Dan Gilsdorf, John Himmelfarb, Julia Kunin, Chris Lo Sze Lim, Myra Mimlitsch-Gray, Rob Neilson, Allan Packer, Michael Sherrill, Bobby Silverman, and Fred Spaulding, for making this exhibition possible. As always, the John Michael Kohler Arts Center is grateful to its dedicated Board of Directors, volunteers, and staff.
