Opening Celebration
Sunday, June 22, 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Americans strongly
value their civil liberties—among them
the freedom of assembly, the freedom
of speech, and the right to privacy. The
contemporary artists whose works are
represented in this series of exhibitions
exercise their civil liberties to address topics
of personal import. They have created
garments, installation works, sculptures,
performances, and videos that present
various perspectives on personal and
public identity, labor issues, stereotyping,
confiscation, surveillance, and more.
