From the parade in the morning to the fireworks at night, the festivities are Americana at its best. And the boat extravaganzas of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center have been an extraordinarily popular and unique part of the festivities for over 20 years.

Gather friends, family, co-workers-the creatively inspired, the I-can-make-something-out-of-anything guys, and the Fourth-of-July fun seekers-and construct your own one-of-a-kind, floatable boat. Your mission is to create the most artistically extraordinary (and, hopefully, race-worthy) boat in the northern hemisphere.

Make a statement at this year's Art Armada and tell us "What Is Your Cause"! Build a floating forest of trees to help raise awareness about saving the rain forest. Set sail a boat of marathon runners to promote healthy living and physical fitness. If world hunger is something you would like to conquer build a floating soup kitchen to cruise the river and quench that hunger. Show your support for the Humane Society, make a floating dog or cat. If preserving the enviroment is your passion, build a "green" boat. If you love the arts, compose a seaworthy masterpiece. With so many causes to champion, the possibilities are endless!

You may use a variety of specific materials, from expanded polystyrene and swimming noodles to inflatables! Be sure to read the guidelines and rules very carefully! And finally, you may want to show off your boat in the annual Independence Day parade before the ART ARMADA sets sail - details about the Art Armada boat's parade spot will be announced in the future.
