Harriet Tubman Center for Expanded Curatorial Practice with Lisa Jarrett and Harrell Fletcher featuring the work of artist Lawrence Oliver

Lisa Jarrett and Harrell Fletcher work with public school students to produce art exhibitions. Students in the curatorial program at Harriet Tubman Middle School in Portland, Oregon, learn museum practices, thereby preparing themselves for careers as curators, preparators, artists, gallerists, writers, and docents. For Between You & Me, the students have selected Portland artist Lawrence Oliver through Public Annex, a non-profit helping artists with developmental disabilities to pursue urban farming and their artistic practice alongside artists and farmers without disabilities. The Harriet Tubman Curatorial Students’ shows bring Jarret and Fletcher’s original project full-circle, as they create a communicative and collaborative path from artists to students and back to artists again.
