Development Internship

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, a nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts complex, is seeking a development intern for the summer. The Intern will work closely with the development team in promoting, executing, and evaluating development efforts surrounding the summer campaign. The development internship will provide an introduction to and experience across a variety of fundraising-responsibilities. Specific areas of focus depend on departmental needs and the intern’s skills and interests.

The Arts Center’s development department focuses on fundraising, grant-seeking, and donor relations in support of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center. Fundraising efforts include identification of prospects, cultivation and engagement of potential and current donors, ongoing recruitment and renewal of Arts Center members, and the design and implementation of strategies to secure resources for the Arts Center.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with staff on design of fundraising strategies.
  • Promote and facilitate membership of the Arts Center, including sales and mailings.
  • Create and execute social media plan for development efforts.
  • Assisting with planning and executing special event logistics including the summer concert series loyalty program, Midsummer Festival of the Arts (July 18 and 19), and Art Patron Breakfast.
  • Frequently move supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Frequently work in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Other tasks as assigned, including assistance with administrative tasks and daily operations of the development department.

Qualifications

  • Currently obtaining or have completed a degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of professionalism
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
