Event Services Internship

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, a nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts complex, is seeking an Events Intern for the summer. The Intern will work closely with the Events Coordinator staff to plan and execute Arts Center sponsored special events, including the Midsummer Festival of the Arts, summer music series, and exhibition openings. Additionally, the intern plays a prominent role in executing facility rentals, including weddings, corporate meetings, and group tours. Specific areas of focus depend on departmental needs and the intern’s skills and interests.


  • Deliver exceptional customer service to a wide variety of clientele and visitors.
  • Assist with planning, setting up, and managing facility rentals and special events.
  • Lead beverage service area for weekly summer music series every Thursday by ordering supplies, setting up, and working alongside staff and volunteers on event nights.
  • Organize and order supplies, and help with setup and cleanup for the Midsummer Festival of the Arts (July 18 and19).
  • Assist with planning, setting up and managing areas for the Public Grand Opening Week of the Art Preserve (August 24–29).
  • Prepare with facility rentals and inquiries.
  • Complete research related to special events and rentals as directed.
  • Frequently move supplies weighing up to 40 pounds, including transporting and installing tables, chairs, tables, tents, and signage.
  • Frequently work in outdoor weather conditions.

  • Ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Access to a car is preferred

Summer 2020 Internship Dates

June 1–August 21, 2020 (may be flexible), 40 hours a week, includes some nights and weekends
