Frank Brown was a sculptor and arts activist. Brown created images from clay, bronze, and stone. His sculptures speak to the social concerns of the African-American community. He wanted his art to influence future generations not to repeat the negative biases of the past. Brown’s goal was to see America as a nation no longer divided by race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or physical disability.

His sculptural work is included in the permanent collections of many institutions, including the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Southern Illinois University, and the University of Utah Museum of Fine Arts in Salt Lake City. He had major sculptural commissions in Florida, Wisconsin, and elsewhere. Brown spent his career working in Lowertown St. Paul, Minnesota, where he established the Lowertown Artists Association.

Brown earned his BFA at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and his MFA at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
