Arts/Industry: Pottery, 1974

Bill Campbell, Loveland Orchard, 1974; vitreous china and glaze; 9 x 19 x 9 in. John Michael Kohler Arts Center Collection, gift of the artist.

Bill Campbell is known for porcelain pottery and vessels. His forms are wheel thrown, ram pressed, and slip cast. He uses in-house formulated crystalline glazes. The glazes are sprayed in layers that create patterns when fired.

Campbell received his BFA from the University of Pennsylvania, Edinboro. Campbell and his wife, Jane, founded Campbell Studios in 1979, which grew into one of the largest production pottery facilities in the mid-Atlantic United States. He retired in 2021.
