Born in Transylvania, Romania, Andrea Dezsö received a BFA in Graphic Design & Typography, and an MFA in Visual Communication from the Hungarian University of Design in Budapest. She now lives and works in New York, and is an Assistant Professor of Art and Design at Parsons School of Design.

Dezsö travels widely to participate in artist residencies around the world, recently in Hawaii at Double Dog Dare Studio, Kauai and the University of Hawaii, Manoa, Honolulu. Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of Art and Design, the Jack Tilton Gallery (NY), and Miami Basel. She has installed three permanent public works at subway stations in New York City, and her illustrations have been shown in The New York Times and Harper’s Magazine.

Dezsö’s artwork draws from memories of people, places, and stories of her past. She works across media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, illustration, book arts, embroidery, sculpture, installation, and public art. During her Arts/Industry residency, Dezsö focused on creating an installation based on her childhood experiences.
