Wally Gilbert

Wally Gilbert is a British artist, designer, silversmith, and Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths as well as Freeman of the City of London, UK. Gilbert studied art at the West Sussex School of Art and Design, received his BA in sculpture from the Chelsea School of Art. In 2012 he was made a Fellow of Herefordshire College of Art. He has received numerous awards including a West Midlands Arts Award, Queen Elizabeth Scholarship, and a Goldsmiths Crafts Council Commendation. Gilbert’s work resides in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum (UK), Royal Museum of Cornwall (UK), and the Museum of Art and Design (NY).

During his two Arts/Industry residencies in the Foundry, Gilbert created finely detailed, lace-like panels and figurative sculpture in cast iron and brass.
