Ginger Krebs

Ginger Krebs’s performances use precise, systematic choreography, dry humor and perceptual disorientation to address forms of empire and colonization, surveillance technology and image-driven culture. Her work has exhibited at The School of the Art Institute (IL), Sullivan Galleries (IL), Bert Green Fine Art (IL), Sector 2337 (IL), the Cultural Center (IL), Loyola University (IL), The Arts Club of Chicago, and the Chicago Artists Coalition.

Krebs has received the Artist Fellowship Award from the Illinois Arts Council, a DCASE Individual Artist Program grant from the City of Chicago, a Project Grant from Creative Capital, and a Lab Artist Award from Chicago Dancemakers’ Forum, among others. Her ensemble has performed at the In>Time Festival (IL), the Pivot Arts Festival, The Chicago Cultural Center, and The Athens Digital Arts Festival, among others across the globe. She has attended artist-in-residence programs across the United States including Ucross Foundation (WY), the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (FL), Ox-Bow School of Art (MI), and Djerassi Resident Artists Program (CA). Krebs holds a BA from William & Mary, a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and an MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
