Originally from Puerto Rico, Arnaldo Morales earned his BFA from Escuela de Artes Plasticas in San Juan in 1996 and has been living and working in New York ever since. Morales has shown his work at The Living Art Museum (Iceland), Rice University Art Gallery (TX), Islip Art Museum and El Museo del Barrio (both New York). He has received grants from the Jerome Foundation, New York Foundation for the Arts, and the Joan Mitchell Foundation.

As a “mechanical artist,” Morales appropriates industrial materials and an array of found objects to create interactive, machine-like sculptures. His Arts/Industry residency in the Foundry gave Morales the opportunity to incorporate multiple cast parts into his sculptures for the first time.
