Jacqueline Shatz

Jacqueline Shatz’s wall sculptures involve suspended states of being and the permeable nature of time. The images of swimming, floating, and “about to” gestures imply anticipation, hesitancy, anxiety, or relief from anxiety. Shatz is a recipient of a NEA Individual Fellowship, a Gottlieb Foundation Grant, a Tree of Life grant, a Craft Alliance New Techniques grant, and several NYFA SOS grants.

She has exhibited at Garrison Art Center (NY), Carter Burden Gallery (NY), LABspace Gallery (NY), CarterBurden Gallery (NY), Amos Eno Gallery (NY), and Kouros Gallery (NY), among others. She has curated exhibitions at Hampden Gallery (MA), The Art Center (FL), Henry St. Settlement (NY), and Green Door Gallery (NY). Her work has been reviewed in ARTnews, The New York Times, Village Voice, and New York Daily News. Shatz received a BFA in painting from Hunter College and an MFA in sculpture from Hunter College.
