Julia Stratton is a Philadelphia-based sculptor specializing in mold making, bronze casting, modeling, and enlarging. Her boutique-style studios and foundry, founded with her husband, Shane Stratton, attracts artists who seek experienced craftsmen and continuity throughout the entire process. The studios make sculptures of every scale in a 11,000-square-foot building in northeast Philadelphia

Clients in their foundry and mold making business have included artists such as Simone Leigh, Matthew Barney, Hans Haacke, Tom Otterness, Issac Witkin, and Winifred Lutz, and The University of Pennsylvania Archeological Museum. Julia Stratton is frequently hired as a free-lance patinist for individual artists and commercial fine art foundries. Her conservation and patination work includes the collections of Lehigh University (PA), Ursinus College (PA), and Grounds for Sculpture (NJ). Stratton has taught at Tyler School of Art (PA), the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and Fleisher Art Memorial (PA). She was a visiting artist and lecturer at Alfred University, Carol College, the Philadelphia Art Museum, and the University of Hawaii. Her work has been distinguished with two Independence Foundation Fellowships, the Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation Grant, George Sugarman Foundation Grant, E. Avery Draper Award, Window of Opportunity grant, Loucheim Fellowship, and the CFEVA Alumni Travel Grant. She has been in residence at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center’s Arts/Industry at Kohler Co. (WI) and at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (PA). She has mounted solo exhibitions at Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, Center for Emerging Visual Artists (PA), Fleisher Art Memorial (PA), and Woodmere Art Museum (PA). Stratton attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
