Tímea Tihanyi is a visual artist working with ceramics and mixed-media. Tímea has received an MFA in ceramics from the University of Washington in 2003 and currently is an active studio artist and a lecturer in the School of Art at the University of Washington. Tímea holds a BFA in ceramics from the Massachusetts College of Art, and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Semmelweis University Medical School, Budapest, in her native Hungary.

Tímea’s sculptural and installation work has been shown at Davidson Contemporary, 4Culture, Consolidated Works, COCA, Pratt and Soil galleries in Seattle; as well as at various museums and galleries nation wide. She has presented solo exhibitions at the International Museum of Surgical Science, Chicago, Society for Contemporary Craft, in Pittsburg, and participated in group exhibitions at the Bellevue Arts Museum, Bellevue, Washington, the Maude Kerns Art Center in Eugene, and at Mint Museum of Craft and Design, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Tímea has participated in artist in residence programs at the European Ceramic Context 2010 in Bornholm, Denmark, at the European Ceramics Work Centre in the Netherlands in 2009, and at the Women’s Studio Workshop in 2007. She is a recipient of 2005 and 2008 Artist Trust GAP awards.
