Matt Toole

Matt Toole has traveled throughout the US, UK, Latvia, and Ireland to collaborate on cast iron projects and performances focusing on the process of casting metal. He has performed at Augusta University (GA), Kennedy Quay (Ireland), the 6th International Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art (UK), Roundhouse Railroad Museum (GA), and SIUE Arboretum (IL), among others. His work has been exhibited at University of South Caroline Beaufort Gallery (SC), Indigo Sky Gallery (GA), S.P.A.C.E. Gallery (GA), Museum of Contemporary Art (FL), and Savannah College of Art and Design (GA), among others. Toole has been a resident artist at Scottish Sculpture Workshop, National Sculpture Factory / Crawford College of Art and Design (Ireland), John Michael Kohler Art’s Center (WI), and Franconia Sculpture Park (MN). His work is held in the collection of United Way of the Coastal Empire (GA), Georgia Southern University (GA), Savannah College of Art and Design (GA), Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Arts (MN), and New Mexico Highlands University (NM), among others.

Toole has received numerous awards, including the Chancellor’s Award from the University System of Georgia/Americas Council, the Jerome Fellowship Award, the International Bursary Award, and the Carey Orness Sculpture Award, among others. He received a BFA from Georgia Southern University and an MFA from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. He is the owner of Toole Sculpture Works.
