Xavier Monsalvatje Vich graduated with a degree in ceramic art from the School of Applied Arts in Valencia (Spain) in 1988. He received a scholarship to pursue studies in Caldas de Rainha in Portugal as well as the School of Ceramics in Manises, Spain, in 1989. Since 1990 his work has been divided between ceramic sculpture, painting, and installation, but mainly focuses on the study of industrial architecture, architectural recovery, and the aesthetic impact of these elements on the landscape.

Vich has been awarded many awards and scholarships including those from the Ministry of Culture in Spain; FuLe International Ceramic Art Museum in Fuping, Shaanxi province, China; the Biennial of Ceramics in Manises in Valencia, Spain; and the Bornholms Kunstmuseum in Denmark. Vich has been a visiting artist at the Department of Art and Design at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and at the University of California, Chico. He has been a resident artist at The Clay Studio, Philadelphia; the Kale Ceramics Workshop in Turkey; the National Ceramics Museum of Ukraine; and the Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taipei (Taiwan).

Vich is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics in Geneva, Switzerland. His work has been exhibited and included in group exhibitions in the United States, Europe, Panama, Dominican Republic, Chile, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, China, Mali, Argentina, Ukraine, Croatia, Namibia, Turkey; countries where he is also present in several collections.
