To support local educators during this uncertain school year, JMKAC's education team is creating four curricular units for elementary schools in the Sheboygan Area School District. The units include virtual resources such as video tours of exhibitions in English and Spanish, workshop tutorial videos, and printable handouts. Additionally, local educators can request a supply kit (like the one above) for each of their students to complete the projects. The first kit, connecting artist Mary Nohl with the exhibition Tokens of Appreciation, received an overwhelming response. By mid October, the education team had delivered nearly 2,000 kits to 107 classrooms. The next kit will focus on artists Albert Zahn, Levi Fisher Ames, Dr. Charles Smith, and the exhibitions Good Road to Follow and Between You and Me.
We invite you to join JMKAC in acts of care for artists and others who face economic challenges brought on by COVID-19.
The pandemic has impacted many segments of our community. Within the arts sector, concerts were cancelled, galleries closed, theaters went dark, and art fairs were cancelled–all critical sources of income for artists. In addition, individuals, families, and businesses in our community continue to struggle with the economic repercussions of shutdowns and other actions taken in the wake of the viral spread.
If you are able, please consider supporting these businesses, organizations, and relief efforts.

Sculptures from Dr. Charles Smith’s art environment are now on view at the Arts Center. Commenting on his environment, The African-American Heritage Museum and Black Veterans’ Archive, Smith said “[It] is a hospital for our current condition—a new and necessary way to look at art that can help us make the choices and changes we so desperately need.” Support Dr. Smith’s ongoing work through this campaign.
