Join the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, and Dr. Liz Rex, art education lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, as we conduct a study of visionary art environments and the ideas that sprout from the locales in which they are created.
This year features special opportunities for early childhood educators with the staff from the arts-based Preschool at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center and the Nature Preschool at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. Get the most out of this one-of-a-kind learning experience that expands your horizons by giving you classroom-tested lesson plans and ideas to add to your library of resources.
Explore the nuances of art and nature education with this day hosted by the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center in Shorewood, WI. Tour the Nature Preschool and see how a comprehensive early childhood education can develop creativity, imagination, and flexible thinking through storytelling, art making, interactions with artists and naturalists, sensory exploration, and more. Educators working with students over six years of age will explore STEAM concepts and how arts integration makes cross-curricular connections come alive. Using Lake Michigan as inspiration, everyone will have an opportunity to create a small, pewter casting in a hands-on workshop.
