Be part of the performance in creating a community altar. The altar represents and embodies humanity inside of joyUS justUS. The participation of people diverse in age, race, gender identity, and ability enables CONTRA-TIEMPO to connect with communiy members, and informs the work in each new place the dance troupe visits.
Workshop/rehearsal members will be led in a Choreographic Lab, which includes movements that embody joy and connection. Participants work with CONTRA-TIEMPO dancers to create 30-second pieces that embrace the elements: water, earth, fire, and wind. The pieces will be rehearsed and then performed during the opening movement of joyUS justUS.
Participants are asked to remain on stage for the duration of the performance, and are encouraged to dance and “get down” with the rest of the audience in the community party that concludes the evening.
