What happens when a place or object that once held meaning for us no longer resonates with who we are as a community?

As a community, we can symbolically “decommission,” or transform, the use of sites—spaces, structures, or even streets—that reflect histories or ideas which we feel no longer match the character of a city.

Join artist Indira Allegra (CA) in a 4-part workshop series connecting us to identify a site collectively for “decommissioning” through discussion, guided writing, and light movement. The series will lead to an artist-led procession and group performance with workshop participants at the selected site, marking a new moment and perspective.
