Copper Box and La Misa Negra

At the Midsummer Festival of the Arts

11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Copper Box—Cajun Swamp Rock

Copper Box is an accordion-fueled, roots rock party! Based in Oshkosh, WI, awarded "Americana Artist of the Year” in 2012 and 2009 by Wisconsin Area Music Industry, this power quartet brings the best of what an accordion has to offer and beyond—from blues to 70s rock to polka rock to the kitchen sink!

Danny Jerabek (button accordion, keys, percussion, vocals, cornet, sousaphone, etc.) and his wife, Michelle (Thull) Jerabek (baritone saxophone, vocals, guitar, percussion, etc.) both started performing with their families on stage at an early age. Once in their teens, they crossed paths again and eventually realized they were meant to be together. They started writing songs and formed a band and the rest is history! The current lineup includes the highly regarded talents of Dan Cable (drums and percussion) and Drew Hicks (bass, vocals, and guitar).

2:30–5:00 p.m.
La Misa Negra—Latin Alternative/Cumbia

La Misa Negra is a seven-piece band from Oakland, CA, known for its unique blend of heavyweight cumbia and high-energy, Afro-Latin music. They deliver an electrifying performance that explodes with infectious dance grooves and punk-rock energy, powered by horn- and accordion-driven riffs, a fierce rhythm section, and a vintage-inspired sound.

Since its debut in 2011, La Misa Negra has toured the country, sharing stages and festival bills with the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz, Thievery Corporation, SZA, Mon Laferte, Julieta Venegas, Ana Tijoux, Bomba Estereo, George Clinton, Antibalas, Budos Band, and Ozomatli. On the strength of their wild, one-of-a-kind shows, they have gained a reputation as one of the most exciting live bands to emerge from the Bay Area in recent years, garnering a diverse fan base that transcends musical, cultural, and generational divides.
