Wandering Wisconsin

Explore astounding large-scale works of art known as art environments that have surprised travelers and intrigued and bemused local residents throughout the Wisconsin landscape for decades. Entry to each of the sites is free of charge.

Delve into the grottos, weave through a European-style shrine and its acres of gardens, admire beautiful vistas, wander along woodland paths where concrete statues decorate the way forward, discover a painted forest, marvel at concrete wonders, and more. Download a booklet with more detailed information about each site.

Throughout Wisconsin, art environments wait to be discovered anew by you. Each shares the story of the maker’s rich heritage and traditions. Spend an afternoon, a weekend, or an extended vacation exploring art, architecture, and gardens of the nine sites that comprise Wandering Wisconsin—one indoor site and eight outdoor sites.

Create your own adventure or use one of the several self-guided tours available. Maps are available by emailing wanderingwisconsin@jmkac.org or downloading the map.
