School Tours

We encourage schools to experience both the Arts Center and the Art Preserve. In-person or virtual, our team of museum educators will lead students in interactive tours and provide creative, choice-based workshops. Funding is available to K-12 schools within a 75-mile radius of the Arts Center.

Scheduling

Field trips are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Morning and afternoon time slots are available.

Depending on the experience you select, visits can last a couple hours or a full day. We highly recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to ensure availability of your preferred date.

What could your morning, afternoon, or day at the Arts Center/Art Preserve look like? Here are a few possible scenarios, depending on your group size, availability, and interests: Sample Field Trip Schedules

Field Trip Funding

The Arts Center provides funding to cover student field trip fees for schools within a 75-mile radius of the Arts Center. Schools may use this funding for an in-person OR virtual field trip for one grade level.

Additional funding is offered to cover transportation and substitute teacher costs for schools within a 75-mile radius that also have 50% or more students eligible for free/reduced lunch.

Chaperones

One adult chaperone is required for every 12 students. There is no charge for chaperones.

Lunch

Please advise us in advance of your visit if your class will eat their lunches during the field trip.

Outside green space is available at both locations for students to eat. Indoor seating may be available with advanced reservations. There are also many public parks nearby.

COVID Mitigation

The Arts Center and Art Preserve follow CDC recommendations for COVID mitigation. Prior to any in-person field trips, a member of the Education Team will coordinate with educators to ensure they are aware of current guidelines, including masking requirements, group sizes, and number of required chaperones. If schools have additional COVID mitigation policies that adhere to current Arts Center COVID guidelines, the Education Team will work with educators to comply with those policies as well.
