More than 60 community members answered when the call went out for “movers and shakers, builders and makers” to collaborate on a new dance piece with the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange. People ages 6 to 83 of all backgrounds, interests, and skills came together to create an evening-length performance exploring important issues related to the land.
Participants used dance and story to stretch the mind and body—sharing ideas, observations, and personal experiences while LLDE choreographer Cassie Maeder wove these into an incredibly moving evening-length performance. Local residents took active roles in all aspects of Language from the Land, from creating scenery to creating movement and everything in between.
Connecting Communities collaborations are supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Bert L. and Patricia S. Steigleder Charitable Trust.
