Poetry Everywhere consisted of a 2½-week poetry workshop and 5-week animation workshop. Nearly 100 participants collaborated with award-winning author Liam Callanan and Wisconsin Poet Laureate Marilyn Taylor on poetry classes for children, teens, and adults using writing games and exercises that created easy entry points for all skill levels. Workshops were held at the Arts Center and in a high school English Language Learner classroom.
Twenty-nine participants collaborated with renowned animator Tim Decker to learn techniques such as claymation, stop-motion, paper cutouts, and traditional hand-drawn methods. What resulted were more than twenty short films carrying the joy of poetry into the community at large—taking poetry everywhere—through public showings at the Arts Center, online, and on the public access broadcast channel of the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan.
Connecting Communities collaborations are supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Bert L. and Patricia S. Steigleder Charitable Trust.
