JUNE

TODDLER ARTS DAY CAMP I
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, June 11, 13, and 15
10:30–11:30 a.m.

Enjoy a fun space for children to experiment with a variety of art-making materials and techniques. Full of arts activities designed especially for early learners, this camp will have your little one exploring the Arts Center galleries and the open studio preschool environment.

Age 2–3 (with an adult)

YOUTH DANCE SUMMER SESSION
Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 12–28
9:00–10:30 a.m.

Dancers will explore proper technique for ballet exercises and positions paired with the fun of creating dance phrases with music. Then, deviate from the strict body lines and forms found in traditional ballet and explore improvisation! This class will challenge students to explore their technical and artistic boundaries, but they will utilize their ballet technique in innovative and contemporary movement.

Age 7–9

Sculpt and shape wet clay as you build pieces by hand. Experiment with a variety of methods to make your pieces one-of-a-kind. Then, learn about firing and ways to add to your creation after firing.

MINI ARTS DAY CAMP
Monday–Friday, June 18–29
9:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Literature comes to life through the arts! Using the Arts Center galleries and children’s books as inspiration, campers will explore painting, ceramics, music, movement, and more to be used in a final presentation.

Age 4–6

DRAWING AND PAINTING
Monday–Friday, June 18–22
1:00–3:00 p.m.

Create a collection of drawings and paintings in response to the things you see and imagine when exploring the exhibitions. Learn about color, composition, shape, line, value, and texture while using pencils, pastels, charcoal, and paint!

Age 7–11

CREATIVE COOKING I
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, June 25, 27, and 29
11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

Explore foods that include locally grown produce from the Sheboygan farmers’ market and seasonal recipes planned by chef Marilyn Montemayor. Participants will create and eat delicious, quick meals ranging from pasta dishes to delightful desserts in our caterer’s kitchen.

FASHION FOCUS
Monday–Friday, June 25–29
1:00–3:00 p.m.

Use textiles and fashion design as inspiration for the creation of multimedia works of art! Make sculpture, ceramics, painting, drawing, and prints inspired by cutting-edge clothing and fashion trends.

COMICS + ILLUSTRATION
Monday–Friday, June 25–29
10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Students will learn the basics of efficient visual storytelling by working with traditional illustration tools: pencils, paper, watercolor, and ink. Character design, cartooning, and the formal elements of comics will be explored. Students may bring in their own laptops for individualized instruction in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Explore the art of stop-motion claymation and other animation techniques. Learn fundamental concepts, character development, plot sequencing, and movie editing. Class participants should bring their own digital cameras.

Explore fun and inventive ways to create imagery with collage. Make art using fibers, fabric, paper, photos, and more. Students will create people, animals, portraits, and a world of fantasy. Be ready to experiment and play with lots of different materials!
