Inspired by Von Bruenchenhein’s towers and love of horticulture, Harrod made this piece as a tribute to Marie. The sculpy pots, made when Harrod lost access to a ceramic studio during the Covid-19 pandemic, are reminiscent of Von Breunchenhein’s delicate, low-fired vessels. In their work with macramé, Harrod honors feminist craft histories, and the tension we encounter in our relationships with quotidian objects. Here, Marie’s presence in all of Von Bruenchenhein’s work is foregrounded.
