Woodcarver Randall Zahn, the great-grandson of Albert and Louise Zahn, designed and executed this evocation of the Baileys Harbor Zahn house façade. Using memories from his childhood and historic family photos, Randall reinterpreted several of the couple’s original creations including the star above the door, the woodpecker door knocker, leaping stag sculpture, and birds’ nests that sit atop either fence post. He has carried on the family carving tradition as he makes his home on the Zahn family homestead in Door County.
