Juan William Chávez

Juan William Chávez is an artist, activist, and beekeeper whose studio practice focuses on sculpting space within urban ecosystems to address social and environmental issues. Chávez earned a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

His work has been exhibited internationally at ArtPace San Antonio; Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, Netherlands; Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis; Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Overland Park, Kansas; Laumeier Sculpture Park, Sunset Hills, Missouri; and El Museo del Barrio, New York. He is the founder and director of Northside Workshop, a community art center that brings together socially engaged art programming, education, and mentorship to foster social progress in North St. Louis communities.

Chávez lives and works in St. Louis.
