Cannupa Hanska Luger creates monumental installations and sculptural works that interweave performance and political action to communicate urgent stories about twenty-first-century Indigeneity. Luger holds a BFA in studio arts from the Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe.

His work has been exhibited at Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, Massachusetts; Albuquerque Museum; Denver Art Museum; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Berkeley Art Museum; Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, Arkansas; Museum of Arts and Design, New York; SITE Santa Fe; Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, Omaha, Nebraska; and Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Luger is an enrolled member of the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation and is of Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara and Lakota heritage. He lives and works in Glorieta, New Mexico.
