Joel Matthys is a composer, pianist, and multimedia artist working in a variety of styles, from algorithmic and artificial intelligence-assisted electronic works to acoustic chamber and large ensemble works. His music has been performed by Thelema Trio, Jude Traxler, Kevin Norton, Vox Musica, Fringe Logic, and the International Music Project (Perugia Italy), and at venues including Studio 300, Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States, North American Saxophone Alliance, College Music Society, and Percussive Arts Society International Convention. He received his doctorate in music composition and computer music programming from the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music. He is currently assistant professor of music at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
