Amanda Tollefson

Amanda Tollefson lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and makes both functional and experimental textiles, clothing, and home goods from mostly recycled or thrifted materials. Her work explores themes of healing, folk magic, and meaning-making. She occasionally sells her wares in addition to doing custom projects. She also works as a costume designer, seamstress, and prop stylist in the film production industry. Recent highlights include reupholstering stools for Cactus Club in Milwaukee, making gopher and raccoon puppets, and a tiny suit for a live turtle for the Joe Pera Talks With You television show, and quilts she has given friends as gifts.

Past projects with the John Michael Kohler Arts Center include a Social STUDIO residency in 2021, and production and costume Design for “The Saga of the Whittled Hodag” music video with Jim White and Paul Fonfara, highlighting artist Levi Fisher Ames.
