Join us for a two-hour workshop when artist and educator E. Saffronia Downing demonstrates how to create “soil pastels” using clay foraged from the grounds of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center’s Art Preserve. We will learn techniques for processing raw clay to create site-specific writing/drawing tools using locally sourced materials. Participants will be invited to contribute to the large-scale collective drawing and writing projects in Studio 1 at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.
Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. You will leave the workshop with your own soil pastels to take home.
