Collection Highlights: Hmong Textiles
Collection Highlights: Hmong Textiles focuses on traditional textiles created, worn, and given by Hmong women to mark important stages of life from birth to death. Hmong women begin stitching paj ntaub, or “flower cloth,” at an early age and incorporate them into numerous creations throughout their lives. This exhibition features objects from the John Michael Kohler Arts Center’s collection, ranging from a baby carrier to a funerary square. Women make paj ntaub to protect, celebrate, and honor their communities.
