A battle of the bands will be waged on four fronts at the free Get the Gig concert May 23 at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center. The victor will claim a gig as the opening act at one of this summer’s Levitt AMP Sheboygan Music Series concerts.

Competing for the most audience votes will be The Midnight Purchase, Natural Satellite, The Noah Nelson Band, and Hanna Simone.

The battle begins at 6:00 p.m. inside the Arts Center. The winner will be announced at the end of the night.

The evening features three food trucks (Harvest Street, No Pork on Your Fork, and Peja Vu) and a cash bar. Must be 21+ to purchase or consume alcohol.

Come out and vote for your favorite to perform this summer!

About the Bands

The Midnight Purchase is a five-piece soul/folk/Americana band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Since the release of their first music offering, the band garnered much acclaim and some nominations in Milwaukee, including 2023 “New Artist of the Year” by the Wisconsin Area Music Industry and a win for “Folk Band of the Year” by The Shepherd Express’s Best of Milwaukee Awards.

Natural Satellite is a crossover jazz duo from Menasha, Wisconsin. The WAMI-nominated duo layers finger-style cello with catchy melodies, harmonies, and improvised saxophone. Their lyrics focus on self-love, reflection, and growth, leaving listeners feeling uplifted.

The Noah Nelson Band is an ever-changing lineup of musicians from the Sheboygan area. Initially a hip-hop solo artist, Nelson has recently expanded his musical focus to include a nine-piece band featuring horns, synths, keytar, and more.

Hanna Simone is a 25-year-old independent blues/soul singer/songwriter based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her blues vocals blend with the high-energy rock edge provided by the musicianship and creativity of her five-piece band. Hanna often performs with her musical director and guitarist Elly Bird as a duo.

The Arts Center presents this year’s Levitt AMP Sheboygan Music Series beginning Thursday, June 20, on the City Green. For these popular free weekly concerts, the Arts Center brings in exciting bands from across the country and representing a range of musical genres. The events also include art-making activities and food trucks. The closing concert of the series, on August 15, series will be held at the Arts Center’s Art Preserve. The Art Preserve is located at 3636 Lower Falls Rd., Sheboygan.

Get the Gig is supported by the Kohler Trust for the Arts and Education, Ruth Foundation for the Arts, Kohler Foundation, Inc., the Frederic Cornell Kohler Charitable Trust and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts
